Troy Mine Legal Update
February 9, 2009

Spokane Valley, Washington (February 9, 2009) – Revett Minerals Inc. (RVM-TSX) (“Revett” or “the Company”) announced today that  a legal action related to an accident at Troy that resulted in a fatality on July 30th, 2007 was filed on June 20th, 2008 and served on the Company last week.  The action alleges causes of action based on negligence, failure to provide a safe place to work, strict liability for abnormally dangerous activity and intentional and malicious acts and omissions and seeks compensatory damages in the amount of US$ 8 million and punitive damages in the amount of US$ 10 million. The Company is consulting with its attorneys and will vigorously defend itself against the action.
