Troy Mine Accident
July 30, 2007Revett Minerals Inc., Spokane Valley, Washington (TSX-RVM)
(“Revett” or the “Company”) Troy, Montana - At approximately 10:30 a.m. MST a rock fall occurred at the Troy Mine located in northwestern Montana. Mike Ivins, a mine mechanic who was working in the area along with other mining crew members became trapped in a vehicle. Mr. Ivins did not survive the accident.
Two other miners who were injured in the accident were treated and released from the Libby hospital. All other members of the mining crews have been accounted for.
Members of the Troy Mine rescue personnel worked diligently on the rescue with a backup crew from Central Mine Rescue from the Silver Valley also on site. The rescue personnel carefully removed materials from the rock fall area, and located the mechanic’s vehicle at 7:00 p.m. MST.
Revett Minerals offers sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Ivins.
