Environment

At Revett, our environmental philosophy can best be described as “responsible use.” We believe that with care and planning, we can utilize our natural resources to benefit today's generation while leaving a valuable natural legacy – and without compromising the ability of future generations to do the same.

Copper and silver play a vital role in today's modern world. These wonderful metals are used in computers, telephones, solar energy cells, electrical components, air and water purifiers, aerospace, and medicine. The challenge is to mine and recover these metals in a responsible manner, and we are pleased to be able to meet that challenge. Our employees have a deep-seated desire to protect the environment that they live in, work in, play in, and love. They’re part of an environmental legacy that they can be proud of, and we’re committed to ensuring that that pride is well placed.

In practice, this means working with regulators and scientists in concert with the needs and desires of local communities to determine environmental impacts that may be associated with our work – and then planning to minimize and mitigate those possible impacts. It also means that, before a single pebble is moved, we know exactly how we’ll manage our operation to protect neighboring wildlife and habitat, how we’ll preserve water quality, how we’ll restore the landscape when the project is completed, and how we’ll monitor for years afterward to ensure that the environment is protected.

“In utilizing and conserving the natural resources of the nation,” said Theodore Roosevelt, “the one characteristic more essential than any other is foresight.” We concur.
